Despite the bad weather over the weekend restricting games all over Leinster, The Laois second II managed to get a game in on Sunday at home against Leinster Cricket Club, from Rathmines in Dublin. In an exciting finish, Laois were unlucky to lose the game by only 11 runs

Batting first, Laois bowled loosely, allowing Leinster to score runs hard and fast. Leinster scored 201 runs off of the allotted 35 overs, loosing only six wickets to W Lalor (2), Andrew King (1) and Inan. Shizad also bowled very tightly, conceding only 26 runs from his 7 over spell.

In reply, Laois got off to a great start and looked comfortable after 20 overs gone with 106 on the board with only 2 wickets down. However, a middle order collapse saw 5 wickets fall in as many overs, and despite a strong effort in the tail by Andrew King (22) and Ifran (19), Laois were eventually dismissed for 190 in the 32 over; a defeat by the narrow margin of 11 runs.

Next week, matches in Togher include the First team vs. Civil Service on Saturday, and the second II vs. Old Belvedere on Sunday. The third team are playing away at Clontarf on Saturday.

Training as usual on Wednesday nights at 6.30 at Togher. More information on the club is available form the club website www.Laoiscricket.com
