2010 Season
Cosby scores 100
It was a weekend of mixed fortunes for Laois Cricket Club.
On Saturday, Laois 2nds were beaten by North Kildare in their Leinster League Division 6 match in Togher. Batting first, Laois batted well scoring a total of 258 from their 45 overs. The star of the innings was Tom Cosby, with 100 runs. He was well supported by Shiva who scored 60. Despite the good total, Laois failed to win, allowing North Kildare to chase the total in the last over. ( See Scorecard )
Tom becomes the second player in the club to score a century this season, joining Clint Wilkie, who scored 105 last week for the 1 team in their victory over Civil Service.
On Sunday, Laois 1st team had a comprehensive win over Clontarf in the Division 3 league. Fielding first, Laois confined Clontarf to a modest total of 195 runs. The bowling of Asif was the highlight, who only conceded 13 runs off his 10 overs. Asif also provided the best of the drama in the field, taking two catches, including one particularly acrobatic effort on the boundary! Clint Wilkie was the pick of the other bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 27 runs off 10 overs.
In reply, Rixi Fuller (39) Shizad (58 not out) and John Ozenbrook (78) steered Laois to a comfortable 7 wicket victory with 15 overs to spare.
