Laois Cricket Club

The Laois first team advanced to the semi-final of the Wallace Cup on Sunday with a walkover.

On Saturday 27 June, Laois seconds beat Sandyford in a close League encounter. Laois won the game by one wicket, with a 35 run partnership at the end of the innings to score the 215 runs required to win the game.

Also on Saturday, the third team had a 5 wicket victory to advance in the Junior Cup. William Blackley lead the way taking 3 wickets for only 5 runs.

History was made this week as the Laois (Portlaoise) Cricket Club, captained by Philip Blackley, fielded a youths team for the first time ever against Dublin opposition. Laois beat the Phoenix team by six wickets after scoring 152 all out, and then bowling Phoenix all out for 146. (Team photo below)
